For fifteen years I held leadership responsibility in banking \u2013 in an environment where leadership is rarely thought of as shared. At some point I led in a job-sharing model myself: one role, two people, shared responsibility. Those years changed my view of leadership. Not because everything ran smoothly \u2013 but because I learned first-hand what shared leadership really hinges on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What surprised me most wasn’t the coordination effort. It was how much everything depends on a single question almost no one asks beforehand: who decides when we disagree? That experience is the core of my work today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why practice over theory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A lot is written about shared leadership \u2013 often by people who never carried it themselves. I don’t explain textbook models. I say what holds up day to day and what doesn’t, because I’ve lived both. That’s no promise of comfort: sometimes my most honest recommendation is that shared leadership isn’t the right path for your situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
